Introduction to GWO Slinger Signaller

*Below prices are including WINDA FeeUpon completion of the GWO Slinger Signaller module (SS), delegates will be aware of the risks and hazards encountered when working with Slinger Signalling within the wind industry. Furthermore, they will be able to control and mitigate those risks and hazards. The GWO Slinger Signaller training module will also equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to appropriately respond in the event of a hazardous situation and to increase their safety through proper use of personal protective equipment, emergency equipment, procedures and safe craftsmanship.

Essential Information

Prerequisites

Participants:

Shall have created a personal profile in WINDA and provided their WINDA ID.

Will be medically fit, well-rested & show no signs of fatigue, sickness or substance abuse.

Assessment

Participants will be assessed by means of direct observation and supplementary oral questions where appropriate (formative evaluation).

Furthermore, the participant will be subjected to a written phase test after the theory elements (summative evaluation)

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO Slinger Signaller certificate, which is an enduring qualification and recognized worldwide in the wind energy sector

Who is it for?

Personnel working within the wind industry conducting slinging techniques and signalling during simple lifting operations, meaning lifts conducted based on a lifting plan covering known hazards

Course Content

Introduction to Lifting Operations:

Understanding the principles of lifting operations, including the roles and responsibilities of slinger signallers.

Lifting Equipment and Accessories:

Training on the selection, inspection, and use of slings, shackles, chains, hooks, and other lifting accessories.

Safe Slinging Techniques:

Practical training in rigging, securing loads, and ensuring the stability of lifted items.

Signaling Methods:

Learning hand and radio signaling techniques to communicate effectively with crane operators.

Risk Assessment for Lifting Operations:

Developing skills to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement safety measures.

Practical Simulation Exercises:

Hands-on training to practice slinging and signaling techniques in realistic scenarios.
