The OCO Stage 3 Crane Operator Competency Assessment is designed to evaluate the theoretical knowledge and practical ability of crane operators involved in offshore lifting operations. Through a structured assessment process, evaluators can identify any gaps in the operator’s understanding of crane equipment, safety systems, and company operating procedures, ensuring that all candidates meet the required industry competency standards.
This course uses an advanced crane simulator, offering an effective alternative for operators who may find it difficult to arrange traditional offshore workplace assessments. The simulator environment allows candidates to demonstrate their operational skills, decision-making, and adherence to safe lifting practices under controlled conditions.
Upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical assessments, candidates will be deemed competent to perform lifting operations without supervision and will be awarded the OCO Stage 3 Certificate.
The certification is issued in accordance with BS 7121-11 standards for crane operator competence and is valid for two years, after which operators must undergo reassessment to maintain compliance and ensure continued safe operation.
