Introduction to Oil Tanker Cargo and Ballast Handling Simulator (LCHS)

The course is designed in accordance with the IMO Model course 2.06 and as required by Section 3.3.3 of Sire 2.0.This course will be covering the following elements through lectures, PPT, videos and simulator exercises to explain and demonstrate following in a realistic manner :-

General arrangement of the tanker and its systems.

Maintenance of the tanker systems on management level

Control of vessel ballast system

Control of trim, stability, and stress

Proficiency in tanker technological operations

Maintaining seaworthiness of the ship, planning and the safe loading, stowage, securing, care during the voyage and unloading of cargoes

Control of pump, valves, and piping systems

Resource management training

Responding to emergencies

Taking precautions to prevent pollution of the environment

Tanker/terminal interaction: cargo transfer systems, shore storage, shore equipment and instrumentation.

Prerequisites

Participants should be operational/Management level Deck Officers, with relevant CoC

Who is it for?

Deck officers on Oil Tankers

Assessment

There will be a final assessment for this course, in which the participants have to score a minimum of 70% to obtain the certificate.
