OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM)

Introduction
This course equips offshore helideck emergency response personnel with the practical knowledge and skills required to perform the role of a Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) during offshore helideck and helicopter emergencies.

Aligned with the OPITO Standard (Product Code: 7041), the training ensures you fully understand your role and responsibilities. You will practice responding to a variety of firefighting and non-firefighting emergency scenarios in a controlled training environment.

Who is this for?
This course is for personnel appointed to the role of Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) in offshore operations.

What you will learn
During the course, you will cover the following practical elements:
* The key role and responsibilities of the HERTM
* The main elements of a helideck emergency response plan
* Types of potential offshore helideck emergencies
* General firefighting safety goals and objectives
* The purpose of typical helideck emergency systems and controls

Assessment and Certification
You will be assessed against the specified OPITO outcomes through practical exercises and demonstrations of competence.

Upon successful completion, you will receive an OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member certificate, which is valid for 2 years.

Prerequisites
To attend this course, you must hold one of the following:
* A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate
* A valid OPITO Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) Initial Training Certificate
* A valid OPITO HERTM or OPITO HERTL Workplace Competence Assessment
* A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate
* A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training Certificate

Medical Requirements
The training activities include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. You must be capable of participating fully in all practical exercises.

Before taking part in practical exercises, you must prove you are fit to participate by providing one of the following:
- A valid, current offshore medical certificate
- An operator-approved medical certificate

You will also need to undergo medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by the training centre.
