The purpose of this course is to enhance safety in anchor handling operations by making the participants aware of hazards and pitfalls and by giving them a thorough understanding of both theory and practice in anchor handling and winch operations.

The course is conducted as interplay between theoretical presentations and case studies and supervised training in a Full Mission Anchor Handling Simulator to backup / illustrate theory and make it easily transferable to anchor handling operations.
Upon completion of the course the participant will have:
Knowledge of and ability to explain industrial procedures in rig move operations
Knowledge of and ability to plan and conduct risk assessment of anchor handling operations
Knowledge of basic winch operations and use of winch computers
Knowledge of and the ability to give examples of safe winch handling and problem solving
Knowledge of and ability to describe anchor system calculations
Knowledge of and ability to explain safe use of Triplex shark jaws and karm forks
Knowledge of and ability to describe how to run and retrieve an anchor with PCP
Knowledge of and ability to give examples of correct communication
Knowledge of and ability to give examples of proper and safe ship handling and decision making
