Our training is certified by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) and it’s designed to address the lack of skills in the wind industry. We will provide you with the mandatory skills, a valid certificate and prepare you for your new career. Understanding the industry and the emphasis on safety and training is the first step towards employment.

Level 2 Diploma in Safe Working Practice in the Wind Turbine Industry (QCF)

The aim of this qualification is to provide the essential mandatory skills and knowledge of safety in the wind turbine industry.

Content

The Level 2 Diploma consists of the following modules:

  • Health & safety in the wind turbine industry.
  • Introduction to working with electrics and electronics in the wind turbine industry.
  • Working at heights in the wind turbine industry.
  • First aid in the wind turbine industry.
  • Manual handling in the wind turbine industry.
  • Fire awareness in the wind turbine industry.
  • Working in confined spaces (medium risk) in the wind turbine industry.
  • Marine safety and sea survival in the wind turbine industry.
  • Employability in the wind turbine industry.

Objectives

The aim of this qualification is to provide the essential mandatory skills and knowledge of safety in the wind turbine industry.

Admission requirements

Aged 19 or over and a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years.

All prospective Level 2 Diploma candidates must pass an assessment and selection process. This is to ensure that we have the right candidates on the right course that are highly motivated to succeed and progress into employment in the Onshore or Offshore Wind industry.

Candidates must pass:

  • Initial interview.
  • Maersk Training Logical Reasoning test.
  • Literacy and Numeracy test Confined Space Assessment to demonstrate that they can operate and communicate effectively to navigate their way out of a confined space.
  • Mechanical and Technical Assessment to demonstrate that they can follow a work schedule (written method) to complete a simple technical task, to an appropriate standard and within a set time.
  • Working at Height Assessment to demonstrate that they can climb a ladder safely by following instructions and using appropriate equipment.

Level 1 Certificate in Safe Working Practice in the Wind Turbine Industry (QCF)

The aim of this qualification is to provide the essential knowledge of safety in the wind turbine industry.

Content

The Level 1 Certificate consists of the following modules: Introduction to employment in the wind turbine industry. Introduction to manual handling in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to first aid in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to working at heights in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to fire safety in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to basic electrical awareness in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to staying safe in the marine environment in the wind turbine sector. Introduction to employability in the wind turbine industry.

Objectives

The aim of this qualification is to provide the essential knowledge of safety in the wind turbine industry. On successful completion, candidates will be offered the opportunity to undertake assessment for a place on the Level 2 Diploma. Candidates are constantly assessed throughout the course to ensure they are highly motivated to succeed and progress into employment in the Onshore or Offshore Wind industry.

Admission requirements

No initial assessment is needed for the Level 1 Certificate. Aged 19 or over and a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years.

Functional Skills in English – Level 2

Functional Skills have been developed as part of a government initiative to improve the levels of literacy, numeracy and ICT in the UK. The qualifications have been designed to assess skills that can be applied to a learner’s life, learning and work.

Content

The Functional Skills in English Level 2 qualification aims to provide competence in English in 3 key areas including speaking, listening and communication, reading and writing.

The skills and knowledge taught will provide the learners with the skills to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, employment and daily life.

Objectives

The aim of this qualification is to improve your current level of literacy. The course is designed to provide the learner with the fundamental skills and knowledge of English required for further study or employment.

Admission requirements

You must be aged 19+ and a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years. You must be currently in receipt of benefits (JSA, ESA or Universal Credit). This Functional Skills course is ideally suited to anyone who has not achieved a Grade C or above at GCSE in English.

Functional Skills in Maths – Level 2

Functional Skills have been developed as part of a government initiative to improve the levels of literacy, numeracy and ICT in the UK.

The qualifications have been designed to assess skills that can be applied to a learner’s life, learning and work.

Content

The Functional Skills in Maths Level 2 qualification aims to provide competence in Mathematics and is assessed by an externally set, externally marked assessment lasting two hours.

Learners must be able to prove competence in certain areas of Mathematics including: Number, Measure, Shape and Space and Handling Data.

The skills and knowledge learnt will be applied to future learning and work of the delegate.

The qualification will be built around three process skills: Represent, Analyse and Interpret.

Assessments for Functional Skills Mathematics require that delegates use problem solving techniques to arrive at solutions to particular problems and due to this, they need to show all workings out in order to gain maximum marks.

Objectives

The aim of this qualification is to improve your level of Numeracy. The course is designed to provide the learner with the fundamental skills and knowledge of Maths required for further study or employment.

You must be aged 19+ and a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years. You must be currently in receipt of benefits (JSA, ESA, Universal Credit). This Functional Skills course is ideally suited to anyone who has not achieved a Grade C or above at GCSE in Maths.

Wind Turbine Technician Traineeship

The aim of this course is to provide relevant certification, skills and knowledge required for employment alongside a guaranteed work placement and Functional Skills in English and Maths where required.

Content

The Traineeship will consist of three core elements: Level 2 Diploma in Safe Working Practices in the Wind Turbine Industry (QCF) Functional Skills in Maths and English Work Placement The Level 2 Diploma in Safe Working Practices consists of: Working at Heights Manual Handling First Aid Fire Awareness Sea Survival Confined Space Electrical Awareness Employability in the Wind Turbine industry As part of the course, Functional Skills in Maths and English will be provided if the learner hasn’t achieved a Grade C or above at GCSE. Work Placement – This will be a guaranteed placement lasting from 4 to 8 weeks depending on allocation. We have engaged with a number of employers to ensure relevant and valuable placements are offered.

The programme aims to provide you with the essential mandatory skills and knowledge required for a career in the wind turbine industry.
