Essential information

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed Basic Safety Training.

Who is it for?
Crew members on fixed or floating offshore installations who are assigned to operate a large MOB boat in accordance with Offshore Norge guidelines.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. At the end of the course, participants must complete a theoretical test. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Certification
Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate that is valid for 2 years

Organisation and responsibilities within the offshore emergency response structure.
Regulatory and Industry Requirements
Relevant authority and industry requirements applicable to MOB boat operations.
MOB Boat Technical
Technical aspects of the MOB boat, its systems and associated equipment.
Manoeuvring
Practical manoeuvring and operation of the MOB boat.
Hook and Launching Arrangement
Use of hook arrangements and equipment for launching and recovering the MOB boat.
Navigation
Navigation relevant to MOB boat and rescue operations.
Communication
Communication during MOB boat, search and rescue operations.
Search and Rescue
Search methods, search patterns and recovery of persons from the water.
Practical First Aid
Practical life-saving first aid for casualties during MOB boat operations.
Night Operations
Practical MOB boat operation and manoeuvring in darkness.
Key Learning Objectives
LO1 - Launch, recover and operate the MOB boat and its equipment safely and satisfactorily.
LO2 - Apply the most commonly used search methods during MOB and search and rescue operations.
LO3 - Recover a person from the water and provide life-saving treatment to an injured person.
LO4 - Apply appropriate communication, navigation and manoeuvring practices during MOB boat operations.
LO5 - Operate the MOB boat during night-time conditions.
