Essential information

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed Basic Safety Training. Personnel who perform smoke-diving duties as part of the Search and Rescue Team must provide valid documentation confirming that the required medical examination and physical tests, including fitness and strength tests, have been completed in accordance with Offshore Norge guidance.

Who is it for?
Personnel who are required to serve as members of a Search and Rescue Team on offshore installations.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. At the end of the course, participants must complete a theoretical test. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate valid for 2 years
Course content
Emergency Response Organisation
Organisation, roles and responsibilities within offshore emergency response.
Fire and Extinguishing Theory
Fire behaviour, extinguishing principles and selection of appropriate extinguishing media.
Use of Extinguishing Media
Practical use of extinguishing media during firefighting activities.
Protective Equipment
Correct use and safety checks of protective equipment and breathing apparatus.
Search and Rescue
Practical search and rescue techniques in emergency situations.

LO1 - Carry out search and rescue activities using appropriate firefighting and protective equipment.
LO2 - Describe the organisation of emergency response on offshore installations.
LO3 - Apply knowledge of fire theory and extinguishing principles when responding to a fire.
LO4 - Select and use the appropriate extinguishing medium for different fire situations.
LO5 - Describe the physiological effects of conducting search and rescue in hot and smoke-filled environments.
