A NR-34, item 34.14.2.1, exige que os testes de estanqueidade sejam realizados apenas por trabalhadores que tenham sido treinados no Curso Básico de Segurança em Teste de Estanqueidade descrito no Anexo I, item 5, da norma – um curso inicial de 24 horas composto por um módulo teórico de 8 horas e um módulo prático de 16 horas. O teste de estanqueidade é um ensaio não destrutivo realizado pela aplicação de pressão em uma peça, compartimento ou tubulação para detectar vazamentos (item 34.14.1); não se trata de um ensaio de resistência hidrostática, e confundir os dois é uma fonte recorrente de acidentes. O objetivo deste curso é qualificar o trabalhador para preparar, executar e concluir um teste de estanqueidade com segurança: verificar os quatro componentes obrigatórios do sistema de teste, isolar e sinalizar a área de risco, elevar a pressão gradualmente e bloqueá-la na pressão de teste, despressurizar pela válvula de alívio e reconhecer as proibições aplicáveis enquanto o sistema estiver pressurizado. Esta variante híbrida oferece o módulo teórico por e-learning e mantém o módulo prático completo de 16 horas presencial, para que o requisito prático do Anexo I, item 5.2, seja preservado integralmente, enquanto o tempo em sala de aula fora do estaleiro é reduzido.

LO12 - Differentiate applicable tightness test methods, including positive pressure, vacuum box and capillarity methods.
LO13 - Identify hazards and risks and apply basic risk analysis techniques to tightness testing activities.
LO14 - Interpret the Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR), including applicable hazards, risks and control measures.
LO15 - Explain requirements for issuing, validating, suspending and closing the Work Permit (PT) for tightness testing.
LO16 - Identify the safety measures and controls to be verified before authorising a tightness test.
LO17 - Identify collective protection measures, safety signage and PPE required according to the test method and associated hazards.
LO18 - Recognise safety restrictions and prohibited activities applicable while the system is pressurised.
LO19 - Determine risk-area limits and isolation requirements and identify the requirements for access control, release and visual identification.
Objective - Demonstrate preparation for the practical activity, including safety briefing, PPE, Work Permit, APR, area isolation and applicable controls.
LO21 - Demonstrate the pre-test inspection of the test system, equipment and safety devices to confirm readiness for safe execution.
LO22 - Perform, under supervision, an applicable tightness test method in accordance with the relevant test procedure.
LO23 - Apply and control the test parameters required by the selected tightness test method.
LO24 - Apply the appropriate leak-detection technique and identify and interpret indications observed during the selected test method.
LO25 - Respond appropriately to abnormal or unsafe conditions, applying stop-work, area control and communication requirements.
LO26 - Demonstrate safe test completion, including pressure or vacuum relief where applicable, equipment removal, restoration and recording of results.
LO27 - Review the practical activity, test results and identified deviations and demonstrate the requirements for safe activity closure.
