A Pessoa Responsável pelo LOTO prepara os técnicos para desempenhar o papel de coordenador nas atividades de bloqueio/etiquetagem. Com base nos módulos do curso Papéis e Responsabilidades, Métodos de Bloqueio e Estudo de Caso, os participantes aprendem a estabelecer e comunicar um arranjo de bloqueio apropriado, identificar e controlar energia perigosa, verificar o isolamento e gerenciar transferências de responsabilidade. O treinamento apoia a execução segura conforme os procedimentos aplicáveis do empregador e do local; ele próprio não concede autorização específica para o local.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of QET (Qualified Electrical Training) is mandatory before attending LOTO Person in Charge.

Who is it for?

Technicians, supervisors and other personnel who are expected to take responsibility for coordination and control of lockout/tagout activities in their workplace.

Assessment

Written knowledge test and practical competence assessment.

Certification

Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate valid for 2 years

Course content

Roles & Responsibilities

LOTO purpose, hazardous energy hazards, and role-specific duties and responsibilities.

LOTO Equipment

Personal and control locks, tags, hasps, lockboxes, and equipment requirements.

Lockout Methods

Isolation selection, single-point lockout, and complex/group lockout arrangements.

Isolation & Verification

Isolation procedures, verification methods, stored-energy control, and safe working boundaries.

Communication & Coordination

Worker protection, communication requirements, coordination of activities, and transfer of responsibility.

Lockout Removal & Re-Energisation

Lockout completion, controlled removal of devices, handback processes, and safe re-energisation.

LOTO Case Study

Planning, implementing, and evaluating a lockout/tagout arrangement through a practical case study.

Assessment

Written knowledge test and practical competence assessment.

Key Learning Objectives

LO1 - Explain the responsibilities, authority and interfaces of the Person in Charge and other personnel involved in LOTO.

LO2 - Identify relevant hazardous energy sources, isolation points and stored-energy hazards.

LO3 - Select and explain suitable lockout methods for single-point and complex/group isolations.

LO4 - Distinguish the purpose and correct use of personal locks/tags and control locks/tags, hasps and lockboxes.

LO5 - Describe the sequence of isolation, dissipation of stored energy, verification and application of lockout controls in accordance with approved procedures.

LO6 - Coordinate communication, individual protection and transfer of responsibility during the lockout.

Objective - Apply the LOTO process to a case study and demonstrate the required practical controls, including safe handback and restoration.
