Essential information

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training. For the blended option, participants must also complete the required e-learning before attending the practical training.

Who is it for?
Personnel who are required to stay or work on installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and need to renew their Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. Water familiarisation exercises are mandatory in accordance with Offshore Norge guidelines.

Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate valid for 4 years
Course content
Risk Awareness and Barriers
Offshore risk factors, barrier principles and individual contributions to safe operations.
First Aid
Practical life-saving first aid during offshore emergency situations.
Helicopter Evacuation
Practical emergency evacuation from a helicopter or helicopter simulator.
Evacuation Methods
Use of evacuation chutes, liferafts and other relevant offshore evacuation equipment.
Sea Survival
Practical survival techniques, including use of a survival suit in the water and rough sea conditions.
Fire Protection
Fire prevention and practical extinguishing of incipient fires.
Key Learning Objectives
LO1 - Describe relevant risk factors and identify barriers used to prevent and reduce offshore incidents.
LO2 - Contribute to safe working practices and improved safety on offshore installations.
LO3 - Perform life-saving first aid during an emergency.
LO4 - Evacuate safely from a helicopter during an emergency situation.
LO5 - Apply fire prevention measures and extinguish an incipient fire.
LO6 - Evacuate from an offshore installation using an evacuation chute and liferaft.
LO7 - Use a survival suit and apply appropriate survival techniques in the water.
