O curso atualiza e mantém as competências avançadas de segurança e cuidados médicos exigidas para oficiais de convés, abrangendo embarcações de sobrevivência, combate avançado a incêndios, primeiros socorros médicos e cuidados médicos de acordo com as Tabelas STCW A-VI/2-1, A-VI/3, A-VI/4-1 e A-VI/4-2.

Prerequisites
Participants must have previously completed and passed training in accordance with: STCW Regulation VI/2, paragraph 1 STCW Regulation VI/3 STCW Regulation VI/4, paragraph 1 STCW Regulation VI/4, paragraph 2 – Medical Care This must be documented by a valid Certificate of Competency as a deck, engine or electro-technical officer, or valid course certificates for Advanced Safety Training and Medical Care. If the competence has expired, participants must document at least 12 months of sea service while holding a valid course certificate or officer certificate. The sea service is calculated within the 5 years preceding the course start date.

Who is it for?
Deck officers who require refresher training in advanced safety, including Medical Care.

Assessment
Participants must pass a written test with a minimum score of 80%. The written assessment is designed so that the 80% pass mark meets the Norwegian Maritime Authority requirement for full achievement of the required competence. All required practical exercises must be completed. Participants are observed individually by the instructor during practical exercises. The instructor assesses whether the participant demonstrates the required knowledge, understanding and practical skills in accordance with the applicable minimum competence standards.

Certification
Upon successful completion you will receive relevant certification in the following competencies: STCW Table A-VI/2-1 – Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats STCW Table A-VI/3 – Advanced Fire Fighting STCW Table A-VI/4-1 – Medical First Aid STCW Table A-VI/4-2 – Medical Care
Course content
Survival Craft Operations
Taking charge of survival craft or rescue boats during and after launching.
Engine and Survivor Management
Operation of survival craft engines and management of survivors following abandonment of the vessel.
Locating and Signalling Equipment
Use of locating devices, communication equipment, light signals and smoke signals.
First Aid
First aid to survivors and immediate medical first aid in cases of accident or illness onboard.
Firefighting Leadership
Leadership and coordination of firefighting operations onboard ship.
Fire Team Management
Organisation and training of fire parties.
Fire Equipment Maintenance
Inspection and maintenance of fire detection and firefighting systems and equipment.
Fire Incident Investigation
Investigation of fire-related incidents and preparation of reports.
General Nursing
General nursing principles and practical patient care onboard ship.
Illness and Disease
Recognition and management of illnesses and medical conditions.
Medicines and Medical Equipment
Appropriate use of medicines and medical equipment available onboard.
Intravenous Fluid Therapy
Principles and practical application of intravenous fluid therapy.
Practical Medical Care
Practical exercises in the assessment, treatment and care of patients onboard.
