Dubai – 11 May 2023 – Maersk Training and Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), at Maersk Training’s offices in Dubai. The MoU aims at developing and launching a Center of Excellence in Aqaba that will support the upskilling of Jordanian workers and building international standard competencies in the areas of Safety, Leadership, Crisis Management, and logistics-related training. Maersk Training and ADC are targeting to start delivering initial short-term training programs in 2023.
The CEO of Aqaba Development Corporation, H.E. Hussein Safadi, stated that the Royal Vision for Aqaba is committed to transforming Aqaba into a world-class business hub and leisure destination, while putting the welfare of the community and preserving the city’s environmental and cultural heritage at the forefront. H.E. stated: “By entering into this MOU with Maersk Training, we are setting a new milestone in the upskilling of Jordanian talents, mainly in safety and leadership, through the development of a Center of Excellence in Aqaba.” H.E. added: “The goal is for the Center of Excellence in Aqaba to become a regional training hub that provides Jordan and neighboring countries with highly skilled talents and industry leaders.”
David Skov, CEO of Maersk Training, highlighted: “Maersk Training, which has been supporting skill-building that enhances safety and operational performance globally since 1978, hopes to bring its international expertise in skill-building to cater to the specific needs of stakeholders in Jordan through the MOU with ADC.”
Skov added: “Maersk Training has a global Center of Excellence network in different markets, including Taiwan, the US, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, just to name a few. The collaboration with ADC will also become a part of this global network, which aims to support skill-building that enhances safety and operational performance across different industries.”
“With the support of ADC, we are keen to start delivering our training programs in line with the market needs of Jordan. This MOU will help us to kick-start delivery of specific programs in the coming months leading to larger agreement to expand the scope of services provided supporting the upskilling of Jordanians”. Global Head of Growth and Strategic Projects, Vijay Rangachari, expressed in his comment about this new partnership.
In addition to providing training programs and based on industry needs, Maersk Training aims to develop specific innovative programs based on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) training.
