Introduction to Advanced Methanol Fuel Operations

Advanced Methanol Fuel Operations develops the operational competence, system understanding, and decision-making capability required for personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of methanol fuel and methanol fuel systems. It builds from foundational knowledge into the applied competence needed to plan, supervise, operate, monitor and intervene during methanol fuel operations, including management of abnormal conditions.

The course is aligned with international methanol competence frameworks such as IMO Generic interim guidelines on training for seafarers on ships using alternative fuels and new technologies (MSC.1/1621), DNV-ST-0687, and MTJTTF Advanced Training Framework and Instructor Handbook for Methanol, Ammonia, And Hydrogen as Marine Fuel.

Essential Information

Prerequisites

Attendees must have completed both the IGF Basic and Advanced training, as well as the Basic Methanol Fuel Operations course. Attendees must be medically fit to participate in all aspects of the training, particularly the practical exercises.

Who is it for?

Designed for Masters, deck/engine officers and other personnel who have direct operational responsibility for: • safe use, care, and operation of methanol fuel and fuel systems • supervision of methanol bunkering and fuel handling activities • monitoring, alarm response, and management of deviations/abnormal situations.

Assessment

There is a final assessment at the end of the course.

Certification

At the end of the course, you will receive a Maersk Training certificate.
