Introduction to Basic Emergency Response Leadership
The course provides participants with basic knowledge and practical skills in offshore safety, accident prevention, first aid, fire protection, helicopter evacuation, evacuation methods and survival at sea for work on installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Prerequisites
Participants must complete the required e-learning before attending the practical training. A link to the e-learning course will be provided before attendance. The e-learning provides the required theoretical knowledge prior to the course.

Who is it for?
Personnel who will stay or work on installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. A theoretical examination based on the required e-learning is conducted on the first day of the course. Participants must complete the required theoretical assessment and demonstrate achievement of the competence objectives. For Competence Objective 3.8, evacuation from a helicopter or simulator, practical evacuation exercises 1–4 are mandatory and must be completed. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Offshore risks, accident prevention, safety barriers and basic safety procedures.
First Aid
Basic first aid principles and practical response to injuries and medical emergencies.
Helicopter Evacuation
Practical evacuation from a helicopter or helicopter simulator during emergency situations.
Fire Protection
Fire prevention and practical use of relevant firefighting and protective equipment.
Evacuation Methods
Use of relevant evacuation means and lifesaving equipment on offshore installations.
Sea Survival
Practical survival techniques for emergency situations in rough sea conditions.
Emergency Preparedness
Emergency response arrangements and resources used during accidents and major emergencies.
Safety Awareness
Safety attitudes and awareness of how the physical and social working environment affects life, health and safety.
