Introduction to Basic Lifeboat Coxswain FF1200 Simulator
The course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the function of a skid lifeboat coxswain, including emergency preparedness, mustering, evacuation, launching, manoeuvring, communication and use of emergency systems and equipment.

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed: Basic Safety Training VHF/SRC Certificate

Who is it for?
Personnel who are required to perform the function of a skid lifeboat coxswain.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. At the end of the course, participants must complete a theoretical test. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Certification
Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate valid for 2 years.
Course content
Emergency Preparedness
Emergency response organisation, command structure and reactions during emergency situations.
Lifeboat Fundamentals
Basic introduction to skid lifeboats and their use during evacuation.
Mustering and Evacuation
Mustering, preparation of the lifeboat, embarkation and evacuation procedures.
Launching and Manoeuvring
Launching the skid lifeboat and manoeuvring it to a safe area.
Communication
Radio communication, internal lifeboat communication and communication with emergency response personnel.
Emergency Systems and Equipment
Use of emergency systems and equipment under different conditions onboard the lifeboat.
Alternative Evacuation Means
Alternative evacuation methods, including liferafts and evacuation chutes.
Key Learning Objectives
LO1 - Describe the organisation and purpose of emergency preparedness on an offshore installation.
LO2 - Prepare a skid lifeboat for evacuation.
LO3 - Organise and lead mustering and embarkation into the lifeboat.
LO4 - Communicate by radio, internally in the lifeboat and with the emergency response organisation.
LO5 - Launch the lifeboat from the offshore installation and navigate it to a safe area.
LO6 - Manoeuvre the lifeboat and manage conditions for persons remaining onboard at sea.
LO7 - Operate emergency systems and equipment appropriate to different conditions onboard the lifeboat.
LO8 - Describe launching and safe evacuation using alternative evacuation means, including liferafts and evacuation chutes.
