The course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the role of a free-fall lifeboat coxswain, including preparation, mustering, embarkation, launching, manoeuvring, communication and the use of emergency systems and alternative evacuation means.

LO1 - Describe the organisation and purpose of emergency preparedness on an offshore installation.
LO2 - Prepare a free-fall lifeboat for evacuation.
LO3 - Organise and lead mustering and embarkation into the lifeboat.
LO4 - Communicate by radio, internally in the lifeboat and with the emergency response organisation.
LO5 - Launch the lifeboat from the offshore installation and navigate it to a safe area.
LO6 - Manoeuvre the lifeboat and manage conditions for persons remaining onboard at sea.
LO7 - Operate emergency systems and equipment appropriate to different conditions onboard the lifeboat.
LO8 - Describe launching and safe evacuation using alternative evacuation means, including liferafts and evacuation chutes.
