Introduction to CAA Offshore Radio Operators Competence Course (ROCC)

The ROCC course is designed to equip candidates with the knowledge and practical skills required to operate aeronautical radio stations in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards.

It is essential for individuals providing Air-Ground Communication Services (AGCS), Offshore Communication Services (OCS), or working in roles such as Helideck Landing Officers (HLOs), Clearance Delivery Officers (CDOs), and Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) crew.

Training is based on the CAP 413 Radiotelephony Manual and CAP 452 Radio Station Operators Guide, with a strong emphasis on standard phraseology, operational procedures, and safety-critical communication.

Essential Information

Prerequisites

Minimum Age: 18 years. Experience: Is qualified by having the knowledge, experience and skill to act in the capacity to which the certificate of competence relates. Knowledge: Familiarity with CAP 413 and CAP 452 is essential. Candidates must study relevant sections prior to attending. ID Requirement: A valid form of photo identification (passport or driving licence) must be submitted to the CAA upon successful completion.

Assessment

Furthermore, the participants will be subjected to a written test according to the learning objectives (summative evaluation)

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a CAA ROCC certificate, which is an enduring qualification and recognized worldwide.
