What are the prerequisites for this course?

Participants should hold a valid GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) certificate or have Valid and in-date certificates for GWO Working at Heights, GWO First Aid and GWO Manual Handling and be in good physical condition to participate in practical exercises.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered through a combination of theoretical lessons, practical exercises, and realistic rescue simulations at selected training centers or custom locations.

Purpose of the GWO ART

The GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) is a comprehensive program designed to equip wind energy professionals with advanced rescue skills for complex emergency situations in the wind industry. This course focuses on specialized rescue operations that may occur at height, within wind turbine structures, or in confined spaces, where quick and effective response is critical for safety. Participants will learn advanced rescue techniques tailored to the unique challenges of wind turbine environments, such as rescuing from hubs, blades, nacelles, and towers.

Who is it for?

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment. Personnel that may need or is selected by their employer to perform advanced rescue or lead an advanced rescue operation, where training according to one or more modules of the GWO advanced rescue training may mitigate the identified risks

Assessment

Participant knowledge, skills and abilities should be assessed on an ongoing basis during practical scenario-based exercises, by means of direct observation and verbal questioning. The instructor should use this as a method of formative evaluation to support participants in reaching the module objectives. The instructor shall also utilise direct observation and verbal questioning on an ongoing basis through the training, to determine participant achievement of the required learning objectives in the domains of knowledge, skills and abilities, to support the overall summative evaluation of the module.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO Advanced Rescue Training certificate, valid for two years and recognized worldwide in the wind energy sector.
