Essential Information

Who is it for?

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

Course Content

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course. It is suitable for all individuals working in the wind energy sector. - Participants should have a basic understanding of workplace safety and risk management.

Fire Prevention Measures

The course covers fire prevention measures and best practices for reducing the risk of fires in the workplace. Participants learn about proper storage of flammable materials, safe handling of equipment, and procedures for controlling ignition sources.

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems

Participants gain an understanding of fire detection and alarm systems commonly used in wind turbine installations and other industrial settings. They learn how to recognize alarm signals, respond to fire alarms, and evacuate safely in the event of a fire emergency.

Fire Extinguisher Use

GWO Fire Awareness Training includes practical training in the use of portable fire extinguishers. Participants learn how to select the appropriate type of extinguisher for different types of fires, operate extinguishers safely, and apply extinguishing agents effectively.

Emergency Response Preparedness

The course trains participants to handle workplace fire emergencies, including raising alarms, safe evacuation, assisting others, and coordinating with emergency services.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification
