What is the purpose of GWO First Aid?
The purpose of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) First Aid Training is to provide wind industry workers with essential first aid skills and knowledge to respond effectively to medical emergencies that may occur during their work in wind turbines or other installations. This training is designed to equip participants with the competencies necessary to provide immediate assistance and basic medical care to injured or ill colleagues until professional medical help arrives.

Prerequisites
Participants: Shall have created a personal profile in WINDA and provided their WINDA ID. Will be medically fit, well-rested & show no signs of fatigue, sickness or substance abuse.

Who is it for?
Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

Assessment
Participant knowledge, skills and abilities should be assessed on an ongoing basis during practical scenario-based exercises, by means of direct observation and verbal questioning. The instructor should use this as a method of formative evaluation to support participants in reaching the module objectives. The instructor shall also utilise direct observation and verbal questioning on an ongoing basis through the training, to determine participant achievement of the required learning objectives in the domains of knowledge, skills and abilities, to support the overall summative evaluation of the module.

Certification
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO BST First Aid certificate, valid for two years and recognized worldwide in the wind energy sector.
Course Contents

Primary Assessment:
Training in assessing the scene and the casualty's condition.

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation):
Hands-on practice in performing CPR on adults and children.

AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Usage:
Training in operating an AED to deliver life-saving shocks in case of cardiac arrest.
04
Wound Care:
Techniques for treating various types of wounds commonly encountered in wind turbine environments.
05
Basic Life Support:
Instruction in providing basic life support measures, including airway management and rescue breathing.
