Essential Information

Who is it for?

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

Assessment

Participant knowledge, skills and abilities should be assessed on an ongoing basis during practical scenario-based exercises, by means of direct observation and verbal questioning. The instructor should use this as a method of formative evaluation to support participants in reaching the module objectives. The instructor shall also utilise direct observation and verbal questioning on an ongoing basis through the training, to determine participant achievement of the required learning objectives in the domains of knowledge, skills and abilities, to support the overall summative evaluation of the module.

Course content

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold a valid and in-date GWO First Aid certificate or Refresher certificate. Additionally, a valid WINDA ID is required.

Who is it for?

This course is intended for personnel working in the wind industry who need to refresh their GWO First Aid certification.

Assessment:

Participants will undergo both theoretical and practical assessments to evaluate their competence in first aid knowledge and application.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO-approved First Aid Refresher certificate valid for two years.

Primary survey and CPR

Reviewing the steps of the primary survey and practising cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.

Use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs)

Refreshing knowledge on the operation and application of AEDs in emergency situations.

Management of injuries and illnesses

Updating skills in handling various injuries and medical conditions relevant to the wind industry.

Emergency response planning

Reinforcing the development and implementation of effective emergency response plans.

Communication and reporting

Enhancing abilities to communicate effectively during emergencies and accurately report incidents.

Practical first aid scenarios

Engaging in hands-on exercises to apply first aid techniques in simulated environments.
