Prerequisites

Participants: Shall have created a personal profile in WINDA and provided their WINDA ID. Will be medically fit, well-rested & show no signs of fatigue, sickness or substance abuse.

Who is it for?

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

Assessment

Participant knowledge, skills and abilities should be assessed on an ongoing basis during practical scenario-based exercises, by means of direct observation and verbal questioning. The instructor should use this as a method of formative evaluation to support participants in reaching the module objectives. The instructor shall also utilise direct observation and verbal questioning on an ongoing basis through the training, to determine participant achievement of the required learning objectives in the domains of knowledge, skills and abilities, to support the overall summative evaluation of the module.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO BST Working at Heights and Manual Handling certificate, valid for two years and recognized worldwide in the wind energy sector.

Participants should have: - A basic understanding of workplace safety principles. - Physical fitness to participate in practical exercises.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO Manual Handling&Working at heights certificate, valid for two years and recognized globally in the wind energy sector.

BST Working at Heights Module

The aim of this module is to enable the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment, work safety at height and perform comprehensive basic rescue from height in a remote wind turbine environment.

BST Manual Handling Module

The aim of this module is to enable participants, through theoretical and practical training, to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for wind technicians in the wind industry and enable participants to perform their tasks and activities in the safest possible
