What is the purpose of GWO Sea Survival?
The purpose of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Sea Survival training is to prepare wind industry workers, particularly those working on offshore installations such as wind turbines, with the necessary knowledge and skills to survive in the event of an emergency at sea. This specialized training program is designed to equip participants with the competencies required to respond effectively to maritime emergencies, including abandoning a vessel, using survival equipment, and enhancing personal safety and survival techniques.

Prerequisites
Participants: Shall have created a personal profile in WINDA and provided their WINDA ID. Will be medically fit, well-rested & show no signs of fatigue, sickness or substance abuse.

Who is it for?
Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

Assessment
Participant knowledge, skills and abilities should be assessed on an ongoing basis during practical scenario-based exercises, by means of direct observation and verbal questioning. The instructor should use this as a method of formative evaluation to support participants in reaching the module objectives. The instructor shall also utilise direct observation and verbal questioning on an ongoing basis through the training, to determine participant achievement of the required learning objectives in the domains of knowledge, skills and abilities, to support the overall summative evaluation of the module.

Certification
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a GWO BST Sea Survival certificate, valid for two years and recognized worldwide in the wind energy sector.

- There are no prerequisites for this course. It is suitable for all individuals working in the offshore wind energy sector. - Participants should have a basic understanding of maritime safety and emergency procedures.

Certificate Gained
Upon successful completion, participants will receive the GWO Sea Survival Training Certificate, recognized globally within the offshore wind energy industry.
Life Raft Usage
Instruction in deploying and boarding life rafts in emergency situations.
Lifesaving Appliances (LSA)
This section dives into the various lifesaving equipment you might encounter offshore, including life rafts, life jackets, and emergency beacons. You'll learn proper operation and deployment procedures.
Search and Rescue Procedures
Understanding search and rescue protocols and cooperation with maritime authorities.
Man Overboard Techniques (MOB)
This vital module focuses on procedures for rescuing someone who has fallen overboard. You'll learn search patterns, communication protocols, and safe recovery methods.
