Introduction to Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) Refresher
The course refreshes and maintains the knowledge and practical skills required to perform helideck crew duties during normal operations and emergency situations, including communication, weather reporting, dangerous goods, aviation fuel, firefighting and use of protective equipment.

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed the HLO Basic Course. Personnel who have not served in an emergency response role and have not completed emergency response training or equivalent training within the last 5 years must complete the basic course again.

Who is it for?
Personnel who perform helideck crew duties.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Certification
Upon successful completion you will be issued a certificate valid for 2 years

Weather Reporting and Communication
Weather reporting, communication and operational routines relevant to helicopter operations.
Dangerous Goods
Handling of dangerous goods associated with helideck operations.
Aviation Fuel
Aviation fuel systems, associated hazards and inspection requirements.
Helideck Operations
Normal helideck operations and response during emergency situations
Firefighting Practice
Practical firefighting and selection of appropriate extinguishing media.
Protective Equipment
Use of personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus during helideck operations.
