There are no formal entry requirements for this course; however, participants are expected to possess a solid understanding of conventional drilling practices, a good working knowledge of well control, familiarity with the main equipment used on rotary drilling rigs, and a general understanding of well control barrier principles.

The target audience for the IADC MPD Introductory Course is any rig personnel who are exposed to any MPD operations, as per IADC guidelines recommendations.

This includes support roles and non-decision-making positions who still need awareness of how MPD works, such as: floorhands, roustabouts, derrickmen, trainees, safety officers, HSE personnel, and logistics or support staff on MPD-equipped rigs.
