Introduction to IWCF Drilling Well Control Level 3&4 - Virtual

To submit the understanding of well control techniques for surface or subsea BOP installations at driller level according to International Well Control Forum standards.

### Course Content

To be able to:

*   Show the principles and procedures used in well control operations with surface or subsea BOP stack as described in the IWCF Rotary Well Control Surface & Subsea BOP Stack Certification Syllabus
*   Use the equipment for well control operations with surface or subsea BOP stack as described in the IWCF Rotary Well Control Surface & Subsea BOP Stack Certification Syllabus
*   Show that a well control situation can be mastered by use of simulator according to IWCF standards
*   Obtain sufficient knowledge about the course content to pass three written tests with minimum 70% score

Essential Information

Prerequisites

Participants should have:

A valid IWCF Level 2 certification or equivalent for Level 3, and Level 3 certification or equivalent for Level 4.
Relevant experience in drilling or well intervention operations.

Assessment

Candidates must complete two written tests with multiple choice questions and Kill Sheet calculations. To pass and earn a certificate, they need at least 70% in each section. Only one assessment type per candidate per session is allowed.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the IWCF Level 3 or Level 4 Well Control certificate, valid for two years and recognized globally in the oil and gas industry.

Understanding well control principles for both surface and subsea operations, including kick detection, shut-in procedures, and pressure management.

Wellbore Hydraulics and Fluid Dynamics:

Advanced knowledge of wellbore pressures, hydrostatics, and fluid properties in various drilling and intervention scenarios.

Well Control Equipment and Techniques:

Training on the use of blowout preventers (BOPs), choke manifolds, diverters, and other critical well control tools.

Kick Detection and Shut-In Procedures:

Techniques for identifying kicks, implementing shut-in procedures, and managing well integrity.

Emergency Response and Leadership:

Developing skills for leading rig teams, coordinating emergency responses, and making critical decisions under pressure.

Practical Simulation Exercises:

Hands-on training using advanced simulators to practice well control scenarios and response strategies.
