What is the difference between the Offshore Fire Team Member course and this refresher? The initial Offshore Fire Team Member course is for personnel being appointed to a fire team role for the first time. This refresher is for those who already hold a valid certificate and need to revalidate before it expires. If you are unsure which course applies to your situation, please contact our team.

Can this course qualify me as a Fire Team Leader?

No. The Offshore Fire Team Leader course is a separate programme that builds on this certification. A valid Offshore Fire Team Member or Offshore Fire Team Member Refresher certificate is required as a prerequisite for the Fire Team Leader course.

You will need valid photographic identification and your current Offshore Fire Team Member certificate. Medical screening is completed on arrival at the training centre. Maersk Training provides all firefighting and BA equipment used during the practical exercises.

Introduction to Offshore Fire Team Member Refresher

The purpose of the course is to give delegates who are assigned the duties as Fire Team Member related to the emergency preparedness plan according to BEK. No. 833, § 17, the needed knowledge and experience to handle the tasks associated to, in a safe manner. The content of the course is closely linked to the requirements and taxonomy described in the STCW A VI/3 – 2010 and BEK nr. 1466 af 08/12/2015

The aim of the STCW Fire team leader refresher course is to provide the delegate with the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills as fire team leaders according to applicable requirements.

· Fire team situational leadership onboard ships

· Organizing and training of fire teams

· Procedures and coordination of firefighting including, onshore local fire teams

Essential Information

Prerequisites

To participate in this course each delegate must be holder of a valid · Medical inc. smoke diving · Prior to each course commencing, delegates must sign a declaration indicating they have read and understood a written statement regarding the physical and potentially stressful nature of the programme, and the need for delegates to be in good health. · Valid FTM certificate

Who is it for?

For delegates who are assigned the duties as Fire Team Member related to the emergency preparedness plan according to BEK. No. 833, § 17

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes specified in BEK nr 1466 af 08/12/2015 § 12 this lesson plan using direct observation.

Certification

Training Centres are responsible for issuing a certificate direct to the delegate completing the programme and to the sponsoring company (when required). Each certificate must indicate that the delegate has been assessed against and met the learning outcomes and must contain the following. According to § 9 certificates must meet the criteria in pcs. 2 For delegates with Danish certificate of proficiency in sailing, the training centre must report back to DMA, using the digital filing system

Fire/combustion theory

General overview of the theory of combustion, mean of extinguishing. · Element of the fire triangle · Fire Classes A-B-C-D-F · Means of extinguishing

Firefighting procedures at sea or at berth, with specific focus on organising, tactics and management

Procedures for coordination in firefighting involving, local fire brigade when at berth
