Introduction to On-Scene Commander
The course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to lead and coordinate emergency response activities at an incident site, including communication, risk assessment, resource coordination, decision-making and management of personnel during emergency situations.

Prerequisites
Participants must have completed Basic Safety Training. Participants must also have either: Attended the practical part of a Search and Rescue course as an observer for a minimum of 2 days, or Completed a Search and Rescue Basic Course.

Who is it for?
On-scene commanders and emergency response personnel with responsibility for coordinating emergency response activities at the incident site.

Assessment
Participants are assessed throughout all practical training. If a participant does not successfully complete the practical training, the reason for the assessment outcome will be provided. At the end of the course, participants must complete a theoretical test. Participants who do not demonstrate achievement of the required competence objectives will not successfully complete the course.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Maersk Training certificate
Course content
Emergency Response Organisation
Organisation, roles, responsibilities, communication and coordination within the emergency response structure.
On-Scene Command
Leadership, decision-making, incident assessment, risk management and coordination of response teams at the incident site.
Communication and Reporting
Communication with the control room, emergency response management and individual response teams.
Incident Assessment
Assessment and reporting of the situation, extent of damage, hazards and potential escalation factors.
Personnel Safety
Risk assessment and measures to protect emergency response personnel during incident response.
Response Coordination
Identification of required response activities and coordination of emergency response teams and resources.
Normalisation
Principles and actions associated with returning from emergency response to normal operations.
Stress and Crisis Management
Recognition and management of stress and crisis reactions during emergency situations.
