Introduction to Ship Security Training for Crew with Designated Security Duties
The course provides participants with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform designated security duties onboard ship and demonstrate competence in accordance with STCW Table A-VI/6-2.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisite requirements for this course. The course for seafarers with designated security duties in accordance with STCW Table A-VI/6-2 includes the competencies covered by security awareness training in accordance with STCW Table A-VI/6-1.

Who is it for?
Seafarers who are assigned designated security duties onboard ships required to maintain a ship security and terrorism preparedness plan.

Assessment
Participants must pass a written test with a minimum score of 80%. The written assessment is designed so that the 80% pass mark meets the Norwegian Maritime Authority requirement for full achievement of the required competence. All required practical exercises must be completed. Participants are observed individually by the instructor during practical exercises. The instructor assesses whether the participant demonstrates the required knowledge, understanding and skills in accordance with the applicable minimum competence standards.

Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate in accordance with STCW Table A-VI/6-2

Threat Identification and Response
Identification and recognition of security threats and appropriate response actions.
Ship Security Actions
Security measures and actions to be carried out onboard in response to identified threats.
Preparedness, Drills and Training
Security preparedness, drills and training required to maintain readiness onboard.
Security Administration
Administrative aspects of implementing and maintaining shipboard security arrangements.
