Introduction to STCW A-VI/1-1 Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques Refresher

The STCW A-VI/1-1 Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques Refresher is a mandatory course required every five years to renew certification under the Manila Amendments. The purpose of this course is to enable seafarers to maintain and demonstrate continued competence in Personal Survival Techniques, as required by STCW Table A-VI/1-1, ensuring readiness to respond effectively to emergencies at sea.

The course is split in a theoretical

and practical part covering:

Different types of emergencies

e.g. collision, fire, wreckage

and grounding. 

Equipment in lifeboats and

liferafts.

Personal rescue equipment. 

Principles of survival including.
