Power-to-X (PtX) refers to technologies that convert renewable electricity into other forms of energy or products.
How it works:
Renewable electricity powers an electrolyser that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen.
Hydrogen can be used directly or combined with nitrogen to produce ammonia, or with carbon to create e-fuels like methanol.
These fuels enable decarbonisation in sectors that are hard to electrify, such as shipping, aviation, and heavy industry.
