October 2026

Dubai, Wednesday 21st October 2026 – Maersk Training has signed a 5 +5 year partnership with WWS Energies, a leading training provider in Angola and West Africa, to develop a training ecosystem for the energy, maritime, offshore and industrial sectors in the region.
The agreement, signed in August 2026, builds on an established relationship: WWS Energies has been Maersk Training's TMS delivery partner for several years. Local delivery planning is already underway.
Under the partnership, the two companies will introduce OPITO-accredited emergency response training to Angola, including Helideck Emergency Response Team Member and Leader (HERTM/HERTL), Offshore Emergency Response Team Member and Leader (OERTM/OERTL) and Major Emergency Management Initial Response (MEMIR). Global Wind Organisation (GWO) courses will follow in a phased roll-out.
Maersk Training's Solutions team, who were closely involved in shaping the partnership, will also support the delivery of WWS Energies' new training centre in Luanda, which is expected to open in Q1 2027.
The partnership is designed to grow capacity significantly. WWS Energies currently trains around 1,500 candidates a year; the ambition is to reach 7,000 a year as the programme scales.
For Maersk Training, the cooperation strengthens its presence in Angola and supports its aim of offering clients standardised training to OPITO, STCW and GWO standards wherever they operate. It will serve existing clients in the region and open the door to new ones.
Thomas Brunet, Group CEO of WWS Energies, said:
"Over the last few years, we have positioned ourselves as the training leader in Angola and West Africa. Having Maersk Training as a partner will benefit African workers and international crews alike by continuously raising the quality standard through OPITO and additional international accreditation. I'm looking forward to this collaboration and to delivering operational excellence together."
Sara Verghese, Senior Account Manager for Maersk Training Solutions, who leads the partnership, said:
"WWS Energies has been a trusted delivery partner for several years, and this agreement takes our relationship to a new level. Together we'll bring internationally recognised OPITO and GWO standards to Angola, giving our clients and the region's energy and maritime workforce access to the same accredited training our clients rely on around the world."
The agreement was signed on behalf of Maersk Training by Vijay Rangachari, Managing Director (AMEA).
