Claus Bihl has decided to step down as CEO of Maersk Training after more than 17 years with the Company. Johan Uggla, former CEO of APM Terminals in Aarhus, has been appointed CEO of Maersk Training effective from October 1, 2017

CEO Claus Bihl has been instrumental in the turn around and expansive growth strategy initiated in 2012, making Maersk Training a strong, globally recognised training and learning provider across several industries. Not only servicing and adding value to business entities across A.P. Moller – Maersk, but with significant revenues coming from none A.P. Moller – Maersk companies.  Maersk Training is today well positioned for further growth in the market, should the right opportunity arise and Claus Bihl has thus decided that this is an appropriate time for him to step down as CEO.

“This month I have been with A.P. Moller – Maersk for 37 years and Maersk Training for 17 years. It has been equally fun, educational and challenging to be at the helm of Maersk Training for all these years. I have enjoyed working with every one of my colleagues during my tenure as CEO, and highly appreciate the strong engagement, dedication and passion for constantly developing and expanding Maersk Training. I thank all for their loyalty and commitment to Maersk Training and to me. It would have been impossible to be where we are today without the hard work and support,” says Claus Bihl.

Claus Bihl will not leave Maersk Training right away, as he has accepted the Board of Directors’ request to stay on for a period of time as advisor in the transition period.

“On behalf of A.P. Moller – Maersk and the Maersk Training Board of Directors, I thank Claus Bihl for his dedication and commitment to placing Maersk Training on the world map, as a professional and leading training and learning industry provider.  Claus leave behind him a solid and respected industry player with more than 12 highly advanced training locations worldwide, offering more than 200 different courses spanning over several industries. We are therefore very appreciative that Claus has accepted to stay in the transition period to ensure good handover,” says Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lars-Erik Brenøe.

To succeed Claus Bihl, the Board has appointed Johan Uggla. Johan Uggla has a background as engineer and has been with APM Terminals for most of his career. Most recently as CEO of APM Terminals in Aarhus, where he during his 6 years as CEO focused on expanding the Danish exports and imports through the Aarhus Port, significantly increasing the terminals top and bottom line.

“Having followed Maersk Training for many years, it is with anticipation and respect, that I join the Company. Maersk Training has built its strong position in the industry on the very core of A.P. Moller – Maersk and our values, providing services safeguarding people and the environment, while improving performance and safety for an increased competitive positioning of companies. Not only to the benefit of A.P. Moller – Maersk, but industry peers around the world. I am looking very much forward to continue on this impressive journey with you, further developing and positioning Maersk Training for the future,” says Johan Uggla.

Johan Uggla is 41 years old, and married to Laura Hay and together they have 3 children and live in Aarhus.
