VR enabled Future Leaders Foundation program

APM Terminals Pipavav in partnership with Maersk Training and Gujarat Maritime University launches “Future Leaders Foundation Program” with immersive VR experience.

Following the signing of MOUs at Vibrant Gujarat Summit in January 2024, APM Terminals Pipavav, Maersk Training, and Gujarat Maritime University joined forces to deliver a 5-day program with focus on maritime-related content by leveraging virtual reality (VR). Maersk Training introduced its award-winning capabilities – “Best Use of AI/AR/VR in Learning and Upskilling”, secured at last year’s Economic Times Future Skills Awards.

The program involved delivery of core maritime content enhanced by VR immersive learning experience. This is considered an industry-first immersive learning experience to train participants in maritime fundamentals, technical know-how, standardisation, sustainability, job relations, and personal and team health. The participants also experienced case studies on supply chain called “Farm to Fridge”, warehousing, and sustainable shipping through the use of VR.

With this program, Maersk Training together with Gujarat Maritime University and APM Terminals, is exploring opportunities to create a Centre of Excellence to expand the Future Leaders program in due course. Maersk Training already has a strong track record of creating Centres of Excellence in specific competencies in many markets around the world.
