OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) Further – e-learning

OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) Further is the learning and assessment programme for experienced offshore workers to renew their MIST certification every four years.

MIST Further Online Training course is specifically designed for experienced offshore workers operating in the UK oil and gas industry. The aim of this OPITO approved online course is to enable candidates to retain an awareness of the major accident hazards, workplace hazards and associated controls to be found on offshore installations.

Your 4-year OPITO MIST Further Training certificate will be provided by email upon completion of the course. Existing MIST certificates can be renewed up to three months in advance of the expiry date. Your new MIST certificate will be valid for four years from the previous expiry date.

In order to qualify for this MIST Further Training course, OPITO requires that the delegate sitting this course, meets at least one of the two criteria below:

  • A valid OPITO MIST Initial (2-day classroom) OR valid OPITO MIST Further (online) training certificate
  • A valid Vantage POB number AND having previously worked offshore in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) or Internationally

During the MIST further (online) course delegates will gain a basic level of understanding and an awareness of the five basic safety elements. Successful delegates will have demonstrated their skills and the level of knowledge and understanding of the above mentioned 5 units as specified by OPITO.The MIST Online course requires a 100% pass mark. This means that all the assessment questions must be answered correctly before you can receive your certificate. The technology in MIST Online will remember which questions you failed and will present you again with the related content again and a different set of questions to confirm your understanding. This process will continue until all questions are answered correctly and the course is complete.
